Electronic Security Technician - Multiple Locations

Work Location: Mississauga, Toronto, Ottawa

Job Summary

​

We are seeking a skilled and experienced electronic security technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic security systems, including CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection systems, among others. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong technical expertise and a commitment to delivering exceptional service.

Job Responsibilities

​

  • Installation:

    • Install and configure electronic and mechanical security systems, including the following systems:

      • CCTV video surveillance systems

      • Access control systems

      • Intrusion alarm systems

      • Master key systems

      • Intercom & communications systems

      • Door hardware

    • Perform system testing and commissioning to ensure proper functionality and performance.

    • Run and terminate cables, mount equipment, and ensure neat and secure installations.

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting:

    • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of security systems to ensure optimal operation.​

    • Diagnose and repair technical issues with security systems, providing timely and effective solutions.

    • Replace faulty components and update system firmware and software as needed.

  • System integration:

    • Integrate various security systems to work seamlessly together, ensuring comprehensive coverage and functionality.​

    • Collaborate with other technicians, departments, and trades to ensure proper system integration and operation.

  • Customer interaction:

    • Address customer concerns and questions regarding their security systems.​

    • Train clients on the operation and maintenance of installed security systems.

    • Maintain daily records of service calls, installations, and maintenance activities.

  • Compliance and safety:

    • Ensure all installations and maintenance activities comply with relevant codes, standards, and manufacturer specifications.​

    • Follow Principal Access Security's safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

    • Keep up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

Qualifications

​​

  • Enrollment or graduation from a college program in the following fields is strongly preferred but not mandatory for consideration:

    • Cyber security

    • Electrical techniques

    • Electronics

    • Technology fundamentals

  • Ambition and a passion for technology

  • Previous work experience with electronics is considered an asset but is not mandatory for consideration

  • Knowledge of electronic devices and networking

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to use power tools

  • Willingness to participate in numerous training programs

  • Ability to complete jobs in timely manner to meet targeted deadlines

  • Valid full G driver’s license with clean driving record

  • Ability to pass Government Security Clearances and Criminal Background Checks

  • Fluency in English is a requirement for consideration
